Mrs. Evans – McMillan Elementary
Mrs. Stacie Evans is an outstanding first-grade teacher at McMillan Elementary! She shares her enthusiasm for learning daily and provides diverse and engaging activities to capture student interest. Students loved her classroom butterfly farm, where they watched the life cycle of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. She is thoughtful and consistent in sending a daily book home with each student that develops reading skills at the individual student’s level and interest. Parents appreciate her regular and clear communication about student expectations and progress. Mrs. Evans is a team player, and you can’t find her without a smile on her face! We are grateful to have her at McMillan Elementary!

Matt Pugsley – Horizon Elementary
Matt Pugsley has been a staple at our school for the last nine years. He is a great fit for the 6th graders because he allows space for the students to start being more involved in their own education choices while maintaining boundaries to create a good classroom environment. Mr. Puglsey works hard at making sure the students have a good foundation to continue their Spanish studies at the junior high level. Mr. Pugsley has a fun sense of humor, is a great dad, loves Disney, and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors.
Call for Science Fair Judges
MCSD PTA is sponsoring several school- and district-level Science Fairs over the next few weeks. They would love your support by serving as judges.
Judging a science fair is a blast and takes very little time. Here are just a few perks:
- Being inspired by each student’s creativity and hard work;
- Listening to them enthusiastically explain their experiments; and
- Seeing the smiles on their faces as you congratulate them and possibly change their life in one moment.
If you are unavailable, please help us share this with others who may or may not get this message so we can fill all slots and help our future Murray scientists.

Mrs. Christie – Horizon Elementary
Mrs. Christie is one of a kind. She is loved not only by her students but by her parents and Coworkers. She is the perfect example of what a loving teacher looks like. She cares for her students and helps them learn and grow with confidence. She is a calming presence. She helps her students feel loved and welcomed, which is so important in those first years of big changes. Horizon Elementary is so lucky to have her in our school.
Mrs. Kjar – Longview Elementary
Mrs. Kjar deserves to be Longview’s Hall of Fame! She has shown her commitment as a teacher with Murray School District since 2007, also working at Viewmont and Parkside. She genuinely cares for the kids in her class. She has been known to call parents and students to check in on them when she feels something is not right. Not only does she do this for her student’s, she goes out of her way to reach out to other teachers and staff members to let them know they are loved and thought about. These thoughtful actions go a long way!
This year she has learned of and dealt with a troubling medical diagnosis and treatment, while keeping a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She is doing so well, now! We are so grateful! Mrs. Kjar is an exceptional teacher, co-worker, and friend to all that know her. We are so lucky to have her at Longview Elementary, and she has positively changed her students for the better, in addition to the Longview staff. Her name says it all, she is very “Kjaring.” We LOVE Mrs. Kjar!
